Over five weeks, I led workshops at Mullingar Youth Project exploring colour, pattern, and abstraction. The aim of the project was to equip a group of young people with a new mode of self-expression and instill them with confidence in their ability to create art.
The group developed patterns using a wide range of materials and techniques, including printmaking, marbling, and collage. I then turned their finished drawings into seamless repeat patterns using Adobe Photoshop. Finally, the designs were printed onto blankets, which were used for a community picnic in at the Youth Project.
The project was kindly supported by Westmeath County Council and Creative Ireland.
